Myra loved holidays, and most of us there had enjoyed many many Halloweens at their house. But, the "stuff" isn't the reason I selected this picture...it was good for the soul to see friends that we rarely see and take a trip down memory lane with all the decorations. Each year as we all decorate for the holidays, we'll think again of Myra.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEglFnQcN8-9kywfk5-SN105JoILxOIMr_6uK72BsSOZZudZ5LiH4MBCHE-wA_vyBF4_8L9Xmb-DMN25yDV0e6j__FRk_rZMB1YS2EWfXe0BLyuN1JFBp5tbuWeG13PvP0mNa2NWNRfQF9ucTwXCUkN4qfeZ44kfkWJ-KOFlXQoatVeJDVhTdXY36-qc=s2049" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2049" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEglFnQcN8-9kywfk5-SN105JoILxOIMr_6uK72BsSOZZudZ5LiH4MBCHE-wA_vyBF4_8L9Xmb-DMN25yDV0e6j__FRk_rZMB1YS2EWfXe0BLyuN1JFBp5tbuWeG13PvP0mNa2NWNRfQF9ucTwXCUkN4qfeZ44kfkWJ-KOFlXQoatVeJDVhTdXY36-qc=s320" width="320" /></a></div>December: In June and July, we planned a group trip to Key West. It was the 7th for David and I, and everyone had been there more than once. We have talked about going to the Dry Tortugas on previous trips, but have never been. Thanks to Todd getting us organized and moving, we finally did it. It was the highlight of the trip for most of us. The seaplane arrives a couple of hours before the ferry, so our group had the place to ourselves for a while - sharing only with the construction workers working to preserve the fort and a new National Park rangers. Now that I've been once, I can't wait to do it again!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-12407244579622479502021-03-30T17:00:00.001-05:002021-03-30T17:00:01.721-05:00In Other News<p> David may have to start posting again on the blog, or it's going to become entirely a crafty quilty blog. The project is a 3 block table runner, which seemed easy-peasy after a couple of larger pieces.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aHl0oluYWJs/YGHovr7t1vI/AAAAAAAAOwo/vEzZVpggpccETsLOyuAoIOgAAr8WgMLUwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3612.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aHl0oluYWJs/YGHovr7t1vI/AAAAAAAAOwo/vEzZVpggpccETsLOyuAoIOgAAr8WgMLUwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3612.JPEG" /></a></div>It was not easy! For some reason, the triangles really stumped me during the class. I began to think I should have gone with a fall fabric instead of spring, as it looked like it would take me that long to get it done. I went home with a bunch of tiny pieces shown in the picture above. I knew if I didn't get right to work, I wouldn't remember what I learned in class, so I finished that square and did one more that night. The second was easier and by the third, I was making fewer mistakes.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ia--os3Y1jI/YGHpeVcp7QI/AAAAAAAAOxA/KVE6ongP6NI32jKhxFsHAyVOVNEyARkbQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3663.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ia--os3Y1jI/YGHpeVcp7QI/AAAAAAAAOxA/KVE6ongP6NI32jKhxFsHAyVOVNEyARkbQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3663.JPEG" /></a></div>I am so glad I stuck with it and finished it, because I like the way it turned out. It's full of mistakes and mess ups, but I don't think it will be noticeable to anyone but me. These darker colors are my version of spring pastels. Who knows...I might even try another star from the book.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LOLXbDJx-GM/YGHqNrBuFYI/AAAAAAAAOxI/t8eeTdLuARMoNHNGc_luwTCg6lTZeG2YACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3613.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LOLXbDJx-GM/YGHqNrBuFYI/AAAAAAAAOxI/t8eeTdLuARMoNHNGc_luwTCg6lTZeG2YACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3613.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div>At one point, I realized I had five unfinished projects going. Two were just waiting on a special order presser foot to finished the binding. One of those two was Mom's birthday gift, which I finished just in time to give her when they came for dinner. Like every quilt project so far, it's imperfect, but I still love it. Here it is laid out on the bed just after washing and drying. I used a "layer cake" package of fabrics, but took some out (blues and purples) and filled in with colors she likes. I opted to have this one quilted using a long arm machine by the teacher of the quilting class and am so glad I did. She picked a vine/leaf looking pattern which went nicely. The first part of the binding looks like a drunk did it while walking in Grandfather's mansion, but I eventually got the hang of it.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--oRTIoqAmpk/YGHqy4fE16I/AAAAAAAAOxQ/oeg3BdAPP14cPgcNKJS4ZTU7_bz39OedgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3626.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--oRTIoqAmpk/YGHqy4fE16I/AAAAAAAAOxQ/oeg3BdAPP14cPgcNKJS4ZTU7_bz39OedgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3626.JPEG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fXHZ5ityQkc/YGHsu_WYhGI/AAAAAAAAOxg/d1-kjGmWoOURENMRQvjqp6i0Bb2QrzgtQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3627.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fXHZ5ityQkc/YGHsu_WYhGI/AAAAAAAAOxg/d1-kjGmWoOURENMRQvjqp6i0Bb2QrzgtQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3627.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here it is hanging in it's new home. I'm not sure whether I like working with the larger pieces of fabric, but I do like the bold graphic quality that it gives the finished product.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mfZo6OFXsJc/YGHqy0nKSGI/AAAAAAAAOxU/Q1bCJHUsb1AVofMDGJpsCwt3s7VC5HKmwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3637.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mfZo6OFXsJc/YGHqy0nKSGI/AAAAAAAAOxU/Q1bCJHUsb1AVofMDGJpsCwt3s7VC5HKmwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3637.JPG" /></a></div>I also finished the binding on the quilt for the 101 class, so now I'm down to two unfinished projects. Bernie (my inherited sewing machine) needs to go in for routine maintenance, but when she comes back, we'll get those two knocked out. <br /><p><br /><br /><br /> </p></div>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-56569262892761493372021-02-28T20:52:00.002-06:002021-02-28T20:52:25.267-06:00Weekend<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Some weekends, all I make is a deeper dent in the couch. I'm excited to try that out, as so far I haven't been great at that.<br /> <p></p>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-76530526100488567682021-02-09T10:59:00.002-06:002021-02-09T10:59:38.077-06:00Hibernation Season Continues<p>I'm still enjoying hibernation season, but this week the highs are below freezing and the lows are teens and single digits. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UXEIY5d1rjU/YCK9eZ1XkTI/AAAAAAAAOtk/1OHb6qz7LQ84azgqDsYdgOWzVjMcwfaHgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3511.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UXEIY5d1rjU/YCK9eZ1XkTI/AAAAAAAAOtk/1OHb6qz7LQ84azgqDsYdgOWzVjMcwfaHgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3511.JPEG" /></a></div>We abided by the rules of the pandemic and stayed home to watch the ill-fated Super Bowl. I call her the Henrietta of the dog world, because when she chooses to sit by you, you feel like you've been singled out for a high honor. Fletcher is used to having that spot and isn't sure how to fit himself into the tiny space left. I took this after Annie growled a small warning at him about touching her. He sat there for quite a while looking pitiful. But at home, all is quiet and cozy. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0GBdJZnsvdM/X_xt7IcvsdI/AAAAAAAAOpo/ev8DK_qTcmAniU7xoIE1cNp_GQLLVaJFwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3448.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0GBdJZnsvdM/X_xt7IcvsdI/AAAAAAAAOpo/ev8DK_qTcmAniU7xoIE1cNp_GQLLVaJFwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3448.JPEG" /></a></div>David got me a lightbox for Christmas, which makes transferring an embroidery pattern so much easier and more pleasant. My first project using the new lightbox was a little winter pillow with all sorts of warm winter coziness.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YwfLSN2AAc4/X_xt6xtIcaI/AAAAAAAAOpk/EmEChAj1XwUFQiS7eOZiXwaMJTRdakWJACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3447.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YwfLSN2AAc4/X_xt6xtIcaI/AAAAAAAAOpk/EmEChAj1XwUFQiS7eOZiXwaMJTRdakWJACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3447.JPEG" /></a></div>I've also been working on a quilted wall hanging. I love the piecing, but the actual quilting is another story altogether. I may try taking the next project to a long arm quilter for the finishing work.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eedUtAFbtzQ/X_xt6uOpxvI/AAAAAAAAOpg/HRSJxDdJdIQac0BaoMjP_60TEfL8kd_oQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3445.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eedUtAFbtzQ/X_xt6uOpxvI/AAAAAAAAOpg/HRSJxDdJdIQac0BaoMjP_60TEfL8kd_oQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3445.JPEG" /></a></div>These two bring a lot of joy and snuggles, which makes up any frustration they might cause. Annie choosing the middle spot on the sofa is a new thing...she usually prefers to be curled up at the end.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PQqSyMdKbT8/X_xt6SXyBYI/AAAAAAAAOpc/eIXZDxfmxOkAtFAwqZ-qPm9h6rfK5xZ8wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3433.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PQqSyMdKbT8/X_xt6SXyBYI/AAAAAAAAOpc/eIXZDxfmxOkAtFAwqZ-qPm9h6rfK5xZ8wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3433.JPEG" /></a></div>David snapped this picture of our house while he was headed out to pick up pizza. There wasn't much snow, just enough to make for a nice picture. I love the candles in the windows and considered leaving them up through the winter. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0v7vsAsXj9E/X_xt6Rg7d9I/AAAAAAAAOpU/cfE2MzffJeMUWyrHdcJdbITEN_pGeYVVQCLcBGAsYHQ/s428/FullSizeRender.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="403" data-original-width="428" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0v7vsAsXj9E/X_xt6Rg7d9I/AAAAAAAAOpU/cfE2MzffJeMUWyrHdcJdbITEN_pGeYVVQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/FullSizeRender.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div>And one last little at-home happy...a new calendar with a different quilt for each month. It came with a little booklet of the quilt patterns.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gzvDiAeLi14/X_xt6Uq-hSI/AAAAAAAAOpY/8qc5AkPXBM4xCVIqMzZj4JaB4Ep-BHJrQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/63166542803__11E5A6F4-11DA-48B4-BCBB-1DFBEA8963AD.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gzvDiAeLi14/X_xt6Uq-hSI/AAAAAAAAOpY/8qc5AkPXBM4xCVIqMzZj4JaB4Ep-BHJrQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/63166542803__11E5A6F4-11DA-48B4-BCBB-1DFBEA8963AD.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><p></p>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-14026538039924314412020-12-31T16:05:00.001-06:002020-12-31T16:05:02.693-06:00Winter<p> Now that Christmas is over, I have seen several variations on "Christmas is done, now it's time for summer." But not for me! The year we got married, I developed a lasting appreciation for winter. Since we got married in December, fall was full of fun activities, followed by our wedding, honeymoon, then David's niece's wedding. It was a wonderful time, but instead of feeling let down in January when all the activity stopped, I found that the quiet was peaceful and restful.</p><p>To kick off this season of rest, I took off the days between Christmas and New Year off. The dogs and I have really enjoyed it!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fHFcJUNiJQs/X-z6tKBmyJI/AAAAAAAAOng/-4FA4tuNDWIW2EDCwfI1CktdkbEgshxKACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/63089321107__DB8AC8AC-686E-465F-B1C6-AECEF186CFE6.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fHFcJUNiJQs/X-z6tKBmyJI/AAAAAAAAOng/-4FA4tuNDWIW2EDCwfI1CktdkbEgshxKACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/63089321107__DB8AC8AC-686E-465F-B1C6-AECEF186CFE6.JPEG" /></a></div>I made America's Test Kitchen's Dream biscuits, which turned out HUGE but were pretty good!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yW2WraDO-sE/X-z6tSPFsaI/AAAAAAAAOno/3y9m3ggpBMQrvG_StjtNcRTHyLQ43h-nQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3347.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yW2WraDO-sE/X-z6tSPFsaI/AAAAAAAAOno/3y9m3ggpBMQrvG_StjtNcRTHyLQ43h-nQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3347.JPEG" /></a></div>I finished this 'winter lamb' hooked rug for Mom for Christmas.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fT5fFAaagSs/X-z6tL7p4AI/AAAAAAAAOnk/xKaQKmNVIBEZ53xGw-aXk6ico3_ZXzHXACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3387.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fT5fFAaagSs/X-z6tL7p4AI/AAAAAAAAOnk/xKaQKmNVIBEZ53xGw-aXk6ico3_ZXzHXACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3387.JPEG" /><br /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fT5fFAaagSs/X-z6tL7p4AI/AAAAAAAAOnk/xKaQKmNVIBEZ53xGw-aXk6ico3_ZXzHXACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3387.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>What could be more "2020" than toilet paper and paper towels with bows? Welcome! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OqUpuIV0jXY/X-zxwhfhy_I/AAAAAAAAOlA/r3uZQDGhQEMlxHU0IUTp0N8SxEd_Odh0wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3378.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OqUpuIV0jXY/X-zxwhfhy_I/AAAAAAAAOlA/r3uZQDGhQEMlxHU0IUTp0N8SxEd_Odh0wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3378.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div>Some favorites in the kitchen are the sign above the stove and the "believe" towel on the cabinet door.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lejsgVYUpeg/X-zxwlKYJFI/AAAAAAAAOk8/BFV2ifFzW0w4JVCXJYCBNbkUKeF5xpTgwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3377.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lejsgVYUpeg/X-zxwlKYJFI/AAAAAAAAOk8/BFV2ifFzW0w4JVCXJYCBNbkUKeF5xpTgwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3377.JPEG" /></a></div>I also like this crock shelf with the feather tree with oranges and gingerbread men. The Santa is new to our house this year and was a gift from Todd. He belonged to Todd's mom. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pKLQbdPoLuE/X-zxwpTHgqI/AAAAAAAAOk4/gXMENWz1W-oGPhsAz31lWByCnabWOBt0QCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3376.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pKLQbdPoLuE/X-zxwpTHgqI/AAAAAAAAOk4/gXMENWz1W-oGPhsAz31lWByCnabWOBt0QCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3376.JPEG" /></a></div>Next up we head to the dining room, where the big tree has lived most Christmases that we have lived here. I believe this is its 17th Christmas! It's on its third of fourth set of lights, but I just haven't found one I like as much!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q-TE2t_wy8M/X-zy6Uupd6I/AAAAAAAAOlg/DQNKF_ac2Tcg6wHDdD2_7WwxtfflQ4mggCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3364.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q-TE2t_wy8M/X-zy6Uupd6I/AAAAAAAAOlg/DQNKF_ac2Tcg6wHDdD2_7WwxtfflQ4mggCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3364.JPEG" /></a></div>Santa on the TV cabinet is one of my favorite decorations. We packed our masks, among many other things, and set out for a socially distant weekend. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f2LXsxcVR5A/X7LgqxgRLTI/AAAAAAAAOe0/PNnvdUgYVlQkW8u6VsoEk2RVDl_Mh66rACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3061.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f2LXsxcVR5A/X7LgqxgRLTI/AAAAAAAAOe0/PNnvdUgYVlQkW8u6VsoEk2RVDl_Mh66rACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3061.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div>Fortunately, the weather was just about perfect. After setting up camp, we headed to burger destination #1 - Oark Cafe and General Store. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pCacsCua36s/X7LhZMDZVZI/AAAAAAAAOe8/nq-sBf6MNkkQT9_QGCHAaEv8ZDZ-jULpACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3063.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pCacsCua36s/X7LhZMDZVZI/AAAAAAAAOe8/nq-sBf6MNkkQT9_QGCHAaEv8ZDZ-jULpACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3063.JPEG" /></a></div>They were operating with a limited menu and outdoor seating only, which was just fine with us. They didn't have David's favorite pie - peanut butter, so we tried Possum Pie instead. Happily, it has nothing much to do with possum and is a chocolate cream pie.<div><br /></div><div>The next day, we spent some time enjoying the scenery and working up an appetite for burger destination #2 - Catalpa Cafe. Last year was our first experience at Catalpa Cafe and went on the recommendation of some people in town. They were absolutely right in recommending it! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OQleXT6LL1M/X7LhvD-PmvI/AAAAAAAAOfE/9jtd4W42SnocrfKM7WKhbSBu1AbHopL4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3073.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OQleXT6LL1M/X7LhvD-PmvI/AAAAAAAAOfE/9jtd4W42SnocrfKM7WKhbSBu1AbHopL4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3073.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-58r43D865Zo/X7LhvGvV4sI/AAAAAAAAOfI/8ovfNs-Qaukpbp1G8_3KzRh2bYAliY3EwCLcBGAsYHQ/s4032/IMG_3079.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-58r43D865Zo/X7LhvGvV4sI/AAAAAAAAOfI/8ovfNs-Qaukpbp1G8_3KzRh2bYAliY3EwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3079.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div>It's a one man show, and although just up the road from Oark, far less populated. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LToiqIGgdvY/X7LiQRnGyeI/AAAAAAAAOfY/lYoNE9kC-hQNr9-hgIxM3QsS3nBN5hYOgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3084.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LToiqIGgdvY/X7LiQRnGyeI/AAAAAAAAOfY/lYoNE9kC-hQNr9-hgIxM3QsS3nBN5hYOgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3084.JPEG" /></a></div>The Juicy Lucy, with cheese in the middle and topped with grilled onion and mushrooms, is one of my all time favorites. He was also operating with a limited menu and outdoor seating only. It was another beautiful day to eat outside. We have plans next year to eat at least two meals at Catalpa, because there's more we want to try.</div><div><br /></div><div>On day 3, we went with some friends to a house owned by an 85 year old man who has it fixed up with period pieces. Sometimes he is there, as he was that day, sometimes not, but he always welcomes people to come in and have a look. After about 2 hours, we were close to packing up our chairs and heading back to camp. Good thing we didn't though, as the next to last number called was David's! He won a very cool refrigerator (cool - teehee!) that can be used in the truck or a camper in place of a cooler. We're really glad we stayed! Looking forward already to next year!<br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><p><br /></p><br /><br /><p></p></div></div></div>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-90061845977356115422020-11-16T14:20:00.001-06:002020-11-16T14:20:15.902-06:00Quilting 100<p> A few posts ago, I mentioned signing up for a quilt class. The class is Quilting 100, for beginners. The focus was just on cutting and piecing.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cl5u_3KQum0/X7Lct5iqOpI/AAAAAAAAOdA/YKz40TRYvRM4m7FbOEAR3th4h5H3pIr1ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3123.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cl5u_3KQum0/X7Lct5iqOpI/AAAAAAAAOdA/YKz40TRYvRM4m7FbOEAR3th4h5H3pIr1ACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3123.JPEG" /></a></div>For practice, I made a few blocks from the book.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cbvkE1y3YIw/X7Lct08dV_I/AAAAAAAAOc8/-0-FvUkE-Ww0rZ0GgKqryEl32IzFxN34ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3120.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cbvkE1y3YIw/X7Lct08dV_I/AAAAAAAAOc8/-0-FvUkE-Ww0rZ0GgKqryEl32IzFxN34ACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3120.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div>When my new desk arrived, it was even more fun as I had an extra 2 square feet to work, and a drawer for storage.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_zEKb5kTR4k/X7LcuBeV3AI/AAAAAAAAOdE/cxMWNdFsemc1x_nZm0oxBw85jUQFN8aLgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/62596263250__50F128D8-6233-468D-905E-FF7E04446166.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_zEKb5kTR4k/X7LcuBeV3AI/AAAAAAAAOdE/cxMWNdFsemc1x_nZm0oxBw85jUQFN8aLgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/62596263250__50F128D8-6233-468D-905E-FF7E04446166.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0eQeGMR0S2g/X7LdUmczY6I/AAAAAAAAOdQ/OETUYgFoHaogvGf71GXI2a9_nllIyE9ngCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3162.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0eQeGMR0S2g/X7LdUmczY6I/AAAAAAAAOdQ/OETUYgFoHaogvGf71GXI2a9_nllIyE9ngCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3162.JPEG" width="320" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The first night of class, we cut all the squares that would be needed for the quilt and began piecing them together. I made my quilt sandwich and pin basted it together. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DRBcI9P3a0k/X7LeYjr_kGI/AAAAAAAAOd0/CAKNIAhw_P0JRsXy8rIYzX-28zxoUYnGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3203.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DRBcI9P3a0k/X7LeYjr_kGI/AAAAAAAAOd0/CAKNIAhw_P0JRsXy8rIYzX-28zxoUYnGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3203.JPEG" /></a></div>After watching a Youtube video on machine quilting with a regular sewing machine and reading a few tutorials, I was ready to give it a try. My lines aren't the straightest, but they're improving and it's starting to look and feel like a real quilt! In retrospect, I think I would have tried something smaller in size for my first one. I chose Christmas colors because I really thought it was going to be wall hanging size, but I don't think it's so Christmas-y that it can't stay out year round. I'm determined that it will be finished by Christmas, so stay tuned!<br /><div><br /></div>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-37354063835055692462020-10-05T11:07:00.003-05:002020-10-05T12:06:11.903-05:00Our Swimmers<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Dogs are blissfully unaware of elections, Covid, wild fires, and hurricanes. They're excellent reminders of how to live in the moment.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eebDDdNlFZk/X3tCpW0OADI/AAAAAAAAOYU/j2gLbVOopxoACKN2ql7ethhQnU0H5NXPACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2953.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eebDDdNlFZk/X3tCpW0OADI/AAAAAAAAOYU/j2gLbVOopxoACKN2ql7ethhQnU0H5NXPACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2953.JPEG" /></a></div>They also know nothing of furniture protection. This loveseat in our bedroom has been a favorite nighttime spot for Riley, then Annie, and now Fletcher as well. We had it reupholstered between Riley and Annie, and I have not one but TWO covers to try to minimize the dog hair and smell. Fletcher managed to get himself behind the back cushions, and seemed quite comfortable there. Annie has done it as well - she reminds me of the princess and the pea!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JB1kUDKAKVE/X3tCpQMOMNI/AAAAAAAAOYY/v7b_hLXXZBwi_zodmhFYpFrXSw7Rh6N3ACLcBGAsYHQ/s4032/IMG_2985.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JB1kUDKAKVE/X3tCpQMOMNI/AAAAAAAAOYY/v7b_hLXXZBwi_zodmhFYpFrXSw7Rh6N3ACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2985.JPEG" /></a></div>Our two dogs have taken every opportunity to swim, which means almost every weekend. Even now that the water is cooler, they show no signs of stopping.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ciegh0GOa20/X3tCptG6rqI/AAAAAAAAOYg/_nq7vCYrwTAxZrxXaXvRSvwyLtRvmZD2wCLcBGAsYHQ/s4032/IMG_2995.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ciegh0GOa20/X3tCptG6rqI/AAAAAAAAOYg/_nq7vCYrwTAxZrxXaXvRSvwyLtRvmZD2wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2995.JPEG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Fletcher's favorite game continues to be "steal the toy from Annie". We don't let him do it every time, but she doesn't seem overly concerned.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NgOK0EpvdKg/X3tCpSUmp3I/AAAAAAAAOYc/xx42Rqn3byUNz-_t9EMuCXbggT17HtqVgCLcBGAsYHQ/s4032/IMG_2986.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NgOK0EpvdKg/X3tCpSUmp3I/AAAAAAAAOYc/xx42Rqn3byUNz-_t9EMuCXbggT17HtqVgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2986.JPEG" /></a></div></div>Todd's dog Max joins the fun sometimes. If we swim from shore, Max might venture toward a toy. If we're on the dock, she seems content just to hang out. Emma occasionally joins in the fun, even though it wears her out for a few days after.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DRhP5C71atw/X3tCpiJWhaI/AAAAAAAAOYk/l8kReVBdxpAkAlwQ8CGpvoE_VHFlNKTgQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2998.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DRhP5C71atw/X3tCpiJWhaI/AAAAAAAAOYk/l8kReVBdxpAkAlwQ8CGpvoE_VHFlNKTgQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2998.JPEG" /></a></div>Even though the Springers seem to have an endless supply of energy, eventually they do tire out. Their favorite spot is near their people, even if that means laying in the kitchen floor while supper gets made. They're a handful, go through food quickly, leave dog hair everywhere, and I can't imagine life without them.<br /> <p></p>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-6039769200856561962020-10-05T10:53:00.001-05:002020-10-05T10:53:37.872-05:00Pumpkin Season<p>Outside, there's a contentious election season going on. Covid numbers are scary. A friend and former coworker who is my age has been hospitalized with Covid. Just turning on the news can cause despair and anxiety. </p><p>I've seen several friends on FB talking about how making something or doing something creative helps them feel more positive. A newly created fall wreath for a front door, a piece of furniture given new life with paint, or a beautiful loaf of jalapeno bread.</p><p>While I wasn't paying attention, fall arrived. Even though it feels like March 202nd or something like that, spring came and went, as did summer. Now the nights are cooler and the leaves are changing color. I've put away the summer red, white, and blue decorations and brought out fall. </p><p>There isn't much new in the mix, and I even pared down some and sold a few things to a nice woman with a booth at a flea market that I frequent. So what I have now is the stuff I really like. There is one new thing - my second hooked wool wall hanging. It doesn't look exactly like the example picture, but I enjoyed making it and like the way it turned out.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oDN2Ji2Wx9k/X3s_07jAG2I/AAAAAAAAOYE/yYLN2uaVKL46RrKffHU50ktjVJr_jKfmACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2970.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oDN2Ji2Wx9k/X3s_07jAG2I/AAAAAAAAOYE/yYLN2uaVKL46RrKffHU50ktjVJr_jKfmACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2970.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-btUKzEagqpg/X3s_0yAtewI/AAAAAAAAOYA/HQB_ubTCPEYT4-9WR1hel45quYak6Jr5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_3007.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-btUKzEagqpg/X3s_0yAtewI/AAAAAAAAOYA/HQB_ubTCPEYT4-9WR1hel45quYak6Jr5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_3007.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div>It hangs in the kitchen over a crock bench that I had made last fall. I like the simplicity of the crocks and dried gourds. The jug on the left was a gift from my Grandad Corwine, and the one on the right was from my Grandmother. The rolling pins at the bottom of the picture were also Grandmother's, and the two in the middle of the picture belonged to my friend Myra. Some of the gourds were purchased at the Ozark Craft Festival, which used to be an annual tradition for my mom and I.<div><br /></div><div>Last week, I went into a quilting store, just to look and maybe ask about a class. By the time I left, I was signed up for a beginner quilting class, and was armed with a new book, the fabric I would need for the project we'll make in class, and additional fabric to make masks. The class isn't until November, but I'm looking forward to trying my hand at quilting.<br /><p><br /></p></div>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-65611900569800855562020-09-04T13:43:00.001-05:002020-09-04T13:43:53.313-05:00Sew Much Fun<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am finding that making something in the evenings after work is a great change of pace and focus, so I've been working on the guest/craft room. After traveling 5 hours to get him and 5 hours home the Saturday after school started, I was beat. Sweet Fletcher was a snuggler from the beginning. All the way home he was happy to be on my lap or in the seat with his head on my leg.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zftRn4PMuHM/X1KFHe4qVrI/AAAAAAAAOT0/Z07KD6V5WxMvNo3LPSPfwmx6mJhePw57ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1800/IMG_2835.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1800" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zftRn4PMuHM/X1KFHe4qVrI/AAAAAAAAOT0/Z07KD6V5WxMvNo3LPSPfwmx6mJhePw57ACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2835.JPG" /></a></div>I thought it would be fun to recreate the picture David took on Fletcher's first night with us.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ww7xzoVz_xI/X1KFDm5OGQI/AAAAAAAAOTw/p3SCSS6WnkMdJSEoTLUGYxg4UxDjsxu0gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2827.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ww7xzoVz_xI/X1KFDm5OGQI/AAAAAAAAOTw/p3SCSS6WnkMdJSEoTLUGYxg4UxDjsxu0gCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2827.JPEG" /></a></div>It was much more difficult and comical than the first picture!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T_HnaLIhlv0/X1KFAFhiEDI/AAAAAAAAOTs/CoIJkCtqzQ8FUqL8FhuRHxT6hGWDY_8ngCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2825.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T_HnaLIhlv0/X1KFAFhiEDI/AAAAAAAAOTs/CoIJkCtqzQ8FUqL8FhuRHxT6hGWDY_8ngCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_2825.JPEG" /></a></div>He may be bigger (much bigger!) than he was a year ago, but he has not lost his love of snuggling. <p></p>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-60524543308535619212020-08-11T14:21:00.001-05:002020-08-11T14:21:22.361-05:00Rug #2<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aZC9gFU7WRU/XzLjzteirbI/AAAAAAAAJrM/Zi7aJwoyFlsT55lUAaf417O0ZViw6I1AgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2804.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aZC9gFU7WRU/XzLjzteirbI/AAAAAAAAJrM/Zi7aJwoyFlsT55lUAaf417O0ZViw6I1AgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_2804.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It was so hot at the lake last weekend that that best idea seemed to be to stay in the air conditioning and think about fall, so I started hooked rug number to. He's a year old now and we'll have had him for a year in a few weeks. He is very sweet and wants nothing more than to be a lap dog. That's exciting because he weighs in the neighborhood of 70 pounds! He's not quite the born athlete that Annie is, but he is learning. He has recently mastered swimming off the dock AND finding the stairs...which is pretty important. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dy2J8oPHONTqnefpPsKcCLbNLf_2CE2zCleAYlX31jh3_R0ZHiBvVz6GZltraOQfYspfvgQSkRwvNoxFDYI3g' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We haven't taken nearly as many pictures or videos of him swimming, as managing two dogs has kept our hands busy. I think we're getting it down though and got a few shots this past weekend.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X34bLgib3AM/XygnF1WhmtI/AAAAAAAAJpo/wt7httuy98IRo7tMGAeIr--zNM_f-4tKQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_1250.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X34bLgib3AM/XygnF1WhmtI/AAAAAAAAJpo/wt7httuy98IRo7tMGAeIr--zNM_f-4tKQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1250.JPEG" /></a></div>Annie continues to love swimming more than anything else. Todd and Scott joined us along with dogs Max and Emma for a while. They are two of Annie's favorite people, but they didn't get a second look as she was too busy concentrating on the task at hand.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m4b0ewVGglQ/XygnF6txH_I/AAAAAAAAJps/Wvgxn6WoL_sJUB9wsFEXb7vjH5wAxvlIQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_1259.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m4b0ewVGglQ/XygnF6txH_I/AAAAAAAAJps/Wvgxn6WoL_sJUB9wsFEXb7vjH5wAxvlIQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1259.JPEG" /></a></div>Getting two dogs to pose for a picture when they're much rather be swimming is no easy task!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aqG9SyYd7CE/XygnGnC-p9I/AAAAAAAAJp4/HXGUjQCkHmcQ-y05G1N5ed3WiRrhVN0IQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_1261.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aqG9SyYd7CE/XygnGnC-p9I/AAAAAAAAJp4/HXGUjQCkHmcQ-y05G1N5ed3WiRrhVN0IQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_1261.JPEG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It was a beautiful weekend, cooler than normal and lower humidity.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxR7bgOFBfdtjIAaaH_CRv_vEMeTJ4Na7OYzkYWhEDXsPmf6EhrJM_un3-kKsRENvhYJdxFKvRnjLzhvzunBQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Couldn't figure out how to turn this video the right direction, but the dogs certainly enjoy some rest time after swims. I'm so glad we did! While I wasn't quite as good at it as I expected to be, it was still enjoyable and I like the finished product.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzmWNZq2mBsnrJsejqwtNDu7MpBB2t8pIlHFBXW6LdloWkgEKfoujJDzOQNsVXNCAMEkYtMbs1GDvETDStwyA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div>We've both purchased the kit that the teacher is using for the August class, even though we won't attend the class. I've been saving all sort of ideas on Pinterest for future rugs. The teacher from the class has a small shop in Ozark which is full of beautiful colors of wool, much of which she has dyed. I'm looking forward to making more! For now though, my pumpkin project sits in the closet while I stare at a pile of masks that I should be finishing.</div>Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432486010602613920.post-89219489563554279252020-07-27T21:28:00.001-05:002020-07-27T21:28:29.812-05:00Staycation<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wonderful long weekend at the lake. The dogs got to swim 4 times in 3 days, and the people enjoyed lots of good food, including tomatoes from our backyard.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The weather cooperated, even if it was hot and humid most of the time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I get a kick out of Annie’s curls, especially in the high humidity. Notice she’s holding my hand in this picture. Funny girl!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Fletcher mastered swimming from the dock this weekend! He has a great launch, and made a lot of improvement using the stairs to get back on the dock. That was a little rough at first, but witha bit more practice, he’s got it now.</div>

Hello one or two people who might still check it! My Facebook feed is filled with Coronavirus news, fear, and anxiety, and I need to take a break from it. I started the stocking project sometime last fall, and didn't get very far at all. I picked up back up in October and got it finished. I also discovered a great source for frames! There's a flea market near my work that has 99% junk but occasionally has some treasure. And the price is usually right! I would paint them anyway, so finding a $2-3 frame seemed like a bargain!<br />

As soon as I found out that my friend Christina was moving to a new house, and was closing by Christmas, I knew that I had to make this one for her. I'm excited to see her new house and give this to her tonight! I have the same design on a pillow that I bought on Etsy before I realized that I could do it myself.<br />

This last one I made based on one that I had seen in a flea market. It is a nice addition to a Christmas-y part of house.<br />

This past Saturday, we got an early start and headed out on a drive. Our first destination was a little village called Caldonia. David had seen it when he went with Todd to watch the eclipse and thought it was a place I needed to see.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pl1c_yNOX4k/W_LsGq1iDrI/AAAAAAAAJdo/KBBuobewnLEZi2dAUiRxHTCzheluywX1QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_0230.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pl1c_yNOX4k/W_LsGq1iDrI/AAAAAAAAJdo/KBBuobewnLEZi2dAUiRxHTCzheluywX1QCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_0230.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
It was full of beautiful old architecture and neat little shops. This place is for sale...David? How about it? Live in part, antique store in part?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CZcsXoJwspU/W_LsGt_FcBI/AAAAAAAAJds/fWmkJfm-gSoUTYBNxNd9T1bHjZSIJb7LgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_0232.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CZcsXoJwspU/W_LsGt_FcBI/AAAAAAAAJds/fWmkJfm-gSoUTYBNxNd9T1bHjZSIJb7LgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_0232.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
We finished up our day in Hermann, which was a really neat town! We ate an early supper at The Wurst Haus. I never would have tried a pear and gorgonzola brat, but sampling before we ordered sealed the deal. It was delicious! <br />

We had a great day getting out of town and away from all the things that call our attention at home. Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13294285119950764152noreply@blogger.com0
