I love this picture of Tuley, who appears to be looking at his reflection in the door. I think he's really looking for David.

Fat Squirrel
During the ice storm, we lost a pine tree. And a large part of our big shade tree in the backyard. This spring and summer, we've had lots of crazy storms. The walnut tree hardly seemed to feel any of it. Today I came home to see a large branch that has broken off and landed in the driveway. There's just a faint breeze and the sun is shining. All I can figure out is that a very very very fat squirrel must have been jumping up and down on it.
Tuley stayed inside today, so I rushed home to let him out. I didn't make it quite in time, but overall he did pretty well. He is back to his old self - he is currently demanding dinner, 45 minutes early.

Are You Nekkid?
Tuley is! He got his summer do today. Now his backside matches his front side! He seems to be feeling better. He's boycotting his regular dry food, but still seemed very hungry after eating the end of the vet-prescribed canned food. Off to Target I went to buy a different dry food. He ate it with gusto and demanded more. I think and hope that he is on the mend. He got to go to work with David yesterday so that he could be inside all day. Today he was inside at the groomer's, so I am debating keeping him in all day tomorrow. He will be spoiled rotten by the time we're done - if it's not too late already.

Suessical the Musical
Saturday I went to see Suessical the Musical with my mom, aunt, and cousins. It was really cute - I loved Gertrude McFuzz, the bird who tries and tries to get Horton the elephant to notice her.
Tuley, a.k.a. Baboon Butt, is doing pretty well. He's eating a little more each time and was excited about feeding time tonight. Our neighbor boy stopped this evening while I was in the backyard to ask a few questions about ol' Tuley. He wanted to know if they're called sheepdogs because they look like sheep. :) As we chatted, I thought he might be wondering about the weird haircut, so I explained that Tuley had been sick and the vet had had to shave his backside. He smiled and said, "He's still a cute dog." :)

Water Water Everywhere
**Tuley update: Tuley stayed inside today per the vet's suggestion. He was most uncooperative about taking his medicine this morning - it became a two-person effort. He's slept the day away inside, but has started eating a little.

Sick Puppy
Poor Tuley has been sick. He spent last night at the vet and we picked him up this afternoon. He's still not eating, but he is sniffing food and showing a tiny bit of interest. He seems glad to be home and is having a little nap by David - his favorite person. :)

Identity Crisis
I thought since we are 6 months past the big day, we should change the name on the blog from David and Erin's Excellent Wedding Adventure to something less wedding-specific. So I took out "Wedding" - this just leaves David and Erin's Excellent Adventure which makes it sound like we are big fans of that goofy movie "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." Which we are not. Believe it or not, it took us a long time to come up with the blog title. We need something new, something clever - ideas? Suggestions?

Silver Dollar City
Wednesday I took off work to go to Silver Dollar City with my parents and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Coming from Washington state and Maine, I think the aunts are finding the Missouri heat and humidity a little unbearable. :) It was a hot and sticky day, but lots of fun. I was glad to get to see everyone.
Rain Rain Go Away
I think Tuley is getting tired of all the rain. When I got home from work, he was in his house. Since it was raining really hard, I left him there. While I was eating lunch, I saw movement just outside the door. Tuley decided, during a rain storm, that he was thirsty. There he stood at the backdoor, having a drink. Silly dog. Now he is inside, sleeping soundly under his beach towels.

Life Is Just a Tire Swing
Jimmy Buffett sings "Life Is Just a Tire Swing," but in this case, life is just a porch swing. :) This beautiful swing was a wedding gift. It's been patiently waiting in our garage for us to decide on a swing stand. A few weekends ago, we found the stand we had pictured. This past weekend, despite having to work on Saturday, David put both together. I need to waterproof them both, but it is so nice to come home from work and sit on the swing. Just a swingin'. :)

Crawfish Boil
Friday, Kevin drove back from Mississippi with a trunk load of crawfish in a cooler. I would have been afraid they would break free and stage a revolt against their captivity, but fortunately for Kevin, that didn't happen.
Dale and Melanie hosted the crawfish boil along with Kevin. I intended to be brave and adventurous and try just a teeny bit. I didn't succeed. I blame Rob - once I heard him ask David if he wanted the eyeballs and I noticed that they STILL HAD EYES, I was done for. No creepy crawlies for me, thank you. There were lots of other tasty treats, so I was in luck.
Here are some of the more hardy souls, peeling and eating away.
Stobbe entertained us all with "Crawfish Theater" using the carcases as finger puppets. Despite chickening out when it came to sampling the delicacy that is crawfish, it was a great time.

Catching Up
I've been a little slow in updating the blog as of late. Let's see...what have we been up to? Tuley and Emma finally met. Tuley was limping a lot and didn't seem to feel well. He played with Emma for a few seconds then flopped down for a nap. After a visit to the vet and a few days of pain medicine, he seems much better. Hopefully he will be a little friendlier next time they get together.
We enjoyed Memorial Day weekend with a barbecue at our house. David whipped up some potato salad, burgers, and brats. The real highlight of the evening was the homemade ice cream. David got me a White Mountain ice cream freezer for Christmas and it was time for its maiden voyage. It was delicious!

We have another bunny resident in the back yard. He's such a cutie! He let me get pretty close before hopping off into the lilies.
I attempted to transplant the big dinosaur plants. I'm not sure I did a very good job. They're starting to look pretty droopy. I've watered them and chatted them up so maybe they'll perk up.
Amos the Amur Maple and Sterling the Silver Maple are both doing well.
The impatiens in the hosta garden have really taken off this week. Tuley forgot about prepositions last week and laid in them again. They've snapped back and seem to be okay.
All for now...
