Kansas City Here I Come

One of David's good friends from high school recently was appointed to the MO Supreme Court.  This was definitely cause for celebration, so when we were invited to his portraiture ceremony (fondly referred to as his "hanging"), we decided to make a weekend of it.  No trip to KC is complete without a couple of important food stops.
First up, Pizza Glen.  I was introduced to Pizza Glen by my friend Christina when she lived in Clinton.  I introduced David to it sometime later.  As delicious as the pizza is, the salad might actually be my favorite.  Calling that plate of cheese a salad might be a bit of a stretch, but oh my is it good.
After the hanging, we were invited to a reception at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.  We dressed up and behaved ourselves.
Most of David's high school football playing friends were able to attend, as well as two of their coaches.  I think it's great how they've stayed in touch.  How many supreme court justices invite their former football coaches to events?

This is David with one of his all time favorite people - Coach Mullins.

Another must-do anytime we're in, or near, KC, is a stop at The Peanut for wings and blts.
Since we've enjoyed the KC Renaissance a couple of other times, we decided to check it out since it was still going on.
We had a great time eating all the fair food and watching all the people.  We played a few rounds of our favorite Key West game:  Costume or No?
We landed for a bit on a bench to rest our weary bones, and found that we had accidentally selected front row seats for a parade!
It was a great weekend - full of friends, fun, and food.
