Snow Wolf

Well, not really. It's just Snow Tuley who is not so much wolf-like. He seems to be getting used to the snow now. I could see exactly where he'd been in the yard today.

I'm ready for the snow (and winter) to move on, but I have to admit that it's pretty!

Snowy Night

This afternoon when I got home from work, it was sleeting. You could walk across the top of what looked like snow and hardly make a dent.
Sometime around 6:00 it changed to snow - big fluffy flakes - and snowed and snowed and ... The bottom step disappeared, the rocks around the tree disappeared, and most of the ivy is even under snow. Tuley is a bit confused as to where his water dish has gone. He thought he wanted out to potty, but quickly changed his mind after stepping one foot into the snow. It was too late though, and the door was closing behind him. The good thing was that he took care of business and came right back without his usual wandering.
What better to enjoy on such a cold and snowy night than hot cocoa with cinnamon in my favorite mug? And, as an added bonus, the Duggars had 2 new episodes on! I know David is sad about missing that! :)

Oh The Weather Outside is Frightful

Outside there is sleet and freezing rain, but inside there are three warm pets.
Tuley was a bit wet after dining outside, so he spent the evening napping in his Bahamas beach towel.

Gracie discovered that someone didn't put her coat away, so that was a nice warm spot to lay.

A Clean Dog is a Happy Dog

Or, a clean dog makes a happy doggy-mama! David took Tuley to the groomer on Friday. Isn't he cute? I wonder if he notices that I pet him a lot more when he is clean?

Impulse Buy

A few days ago I was cruising around the internets looking for a Valentine garden flag. I have kind of a thing for these little friends, especially in the less colorful outside months. I like to see that bit of color waving in the wind. Wouldn't you know...I not only found a Valentine flag, but an Easter flag, Fourth of July flag, Halloween flag, and a holiday-free flag for those off months. I instantly had buyer's remorse, but now that they have arrived, I have recovered. Isn't that Easter bunny about the funniest thing? Something about the expression on his face.

The Latest From the Fremont House

I am feeling much much better. The mono was very short lived, considering that the doctor said I'd feel better in a couple of weeks. I was lucky - a couple of days was really all it took. Nonetheless, nothing much has happened around here. There was a beautiful sunrise over Smitty's one day. :)

Our dishwasher met it's untimely demise and was declared dead by the appliance repairman on Friday. We started shopping for a new one Saturday. We have freakishly large dinner plates, so that's something to consider in the selection of a new dishwasher. We also found that I am pretty picky about the location of the silverware basket. I didn't know I had strong opinions on that, but it turns out I do! We found a couple of contenders. For now, we're washing by hand. If you come over before we get a new one, plan to eat on paper!

We enjoyed my mom and dad and Jim and Patty for dinner on Friday for red beans and rice. On Sunday, Dawn and I went to dinner and got caught up. We usually have the company of her sweet boys, which is always fun. But, it was nice this time to have dinner just the two of us. I'm not sure when the last time was that we logged that much girl time!

I have been off work today for MLK, Jr. day. I should have used the time better, but can we just pretend it was a mono relapse? I didn't do much of anything today but keep the cats and dog company. I think Henrietta is loosing her patience with winter. I did quite a bit of laundry today, so she took advantage of the warm dryer every chance she got. Don't worry - I always make sure the dryer is cat-free before turning it on.

Well, you see why I haven't posted. I have been severely boring lately! Mark your calendars - LOST begins on Wednesday!

Sick

So...it seems that I am sick. My headache that I couldn't get rid of? Mono. I know! How does a 32 year old married woman get mono? I can't figure that out either. It's funny though. Before I went to the doctor, I just thought I was being especially lazy. Now that I have a name for what I have, it's given me permission to be sick. I slept all night and then slept again from 10-5 today. I am just a barrel of fun, but the doctor says I should feel better in a couple of weeks. A couple of WEEKS? Seriously? Oh well. At least it is January. I guess I won't miss much. If I am absent from blog land for a little while, keep checking back. I'll be napping in the meantime.

Rather Unimportant Milestone

The Land Rover Discovery has completed 170,000 miles.

I purchased this vehicle in November of 1997 at the Land Rover Dealer in Nashville, TN. I drove the Discovery until the summer of 2003 when, with about 100,000 miles on the odometer, I sold it to a buddy in Lebanon, MO. He drove it for a year or so and sold it to a fellow in Marshfield, MO. From time to time I would see the Rover, mostly around town and occasionally on I 44 between Springfield and Marshfield. In the spring of 2007 I tracked down the owner and asked if he would consider selling the Discovery back to me. A few weeks went by and we negotiated a deal. In April of 2007 the Discovery came home. My hopes are to keep the truck for as long as my pocketbook will allow. I’d eventually like to retire it from daily driver status and only drive it when we camp or want to do some light off-roading. The Rover needs some work and an engine rebuild will be in its future. For now it starts and runs well enough to get me where I need to go. KNOCK WOOD!
